Aptos is located just 8 miles east of Santa Cruz, California in the Soquel Cove on the Pacific Ocean. Most of the shoreline here is part of the Seacliff State Beach. Swimming, surfing, and pier fishing are popular activities in the park. Just to the north of town is another park, the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. This wilderness area has trails for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. However, the terrain is very steep so plan your activities accordingly. There are golf courses and tennis facilities in the area as well as many shops and galleries. If you are looking for local attractions, head over to Santa Cruz and check out the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The boardwalk has shops, restaurants, rides and arcades. The marinas in Santa Cruz provide boat rentals and fishing gear to those who want to spend a day out on the water. After a full day enjoying the activities in the area head back to Aptos and enjoy a glass of wine, made in the nearby foothills, with a wonderful meal at one of the restaurants in town. The Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY, 35miles), the San Jose International Airport (SJC, 40miles) and the San Francisco International Airport (SFO, 60miles) are the closest airports to the area. |
