Balboa Island is located in Orange County, just south of Newport Beach, California. Channels that lead to the Pacific Ocean surround this island. You may access the island by either a small ferry from Balboa Peninsula or by Jamboree Road – Marine Avenue on the northeastern part of the island. Balboa Island is a great place to stay if you enjoy window-shopping and a wide variety of foods. The streets here are narrow, so you might want to leave your car back at the vacation home when you explore the island. After visiting the local galleries and stores, take a trip on the ferry again and check out the beach on Balboa Peninsula or try Peninsula Park. It is just a short walk from the ferry and offers numerous activities as well. The pier here is a great place for fishing and looking for starfish attached to the structure. Back by the ferry, the Balboa Pavilion hosts arcades, carnival rides and concession stands. Inland from Balboa Island there are high-class golf courses ready to test your swing and Anaheim, home of Disneyland, is just a short drive north. Staying on Balboa Island gives you the opportunity to do and see so much that you will be vacationing here for years to come. Los Angeles has the largest nearby airport (LAX, 40miles), but if you want to avoid the large airport you might want to try the Long Beach Municipal Airport (LGB, 25miles) or John Wayne Airport (SNA, 10miles).
