Cambria is located about 60 miles north of Santa Maria on California’s coastline. Surrounded by rolling hills covered with light green grass and brush, Cambria is a small gem of a town. The town is an artist colony and the shops along the streets reflect local craftsmen’s work. Small galleries and cafes make this town a perfect place for a morning stroll. The beaches and coves here provide beautiful backdrops for day hikes and picnics. Wildlife viewing is another favorite pastime in Cambria. Elephant seals and a large variety of birds inhabit the coastline near town. Just north along Highway 1 is San Simeon State Park. The park has a 3 mile hiking trail and several good fishing holes. For an ideal day trip, try visiting The Hearst Castle. The castle is a 165 room estate located north of San Simeon. The small town feel combined with beautiful countryside makes Cambria the ideal spot for a fun and relaxing vacation along California’s coastline. The nearest airports to the area are the Santa Maria Public Airport (SMX, 30miles) and the Paso Robles Municipal Airport (PRB, 30miles) to the east. |
