Encinitas is located about 25 miles north of San Diego along the coast of California. This seaside town is right along I-5 and thus is very accessible. The beaches here are long and the breeze from the ocean will keep you cool. Moonlight State Beach has the most amenities with restrooms, volleyball, tennis courts, fire rings and equipment rentals. These beaches are perfect for a morning jog or just a walk in the afternoon, and due to the small cliffs next to the beaches you feel quite secluded from the commotion of cars and city streets. A little further south is Swami’s Beach, which has excellent surfing and restrooms. Inland, there are plenty of golf courses to try out. If you enjoy shopping, then you will enjoy the shops and galleries within Encinitas. And if you didn’t get enough, then head north to Carlsbad, which is a great place for antiquing. While you are there you might want to stop in at Legoland and check out the fun activities and exhibits. A short drive to the south puts you in San Diego and with that come such attractions as the San Diego Zoo. Encinitas is far enough away from San Diego so that you don’t feel as if you are in a big city but close enough to enjoy all the benefits of the big city. The San Diego International Airport (SAN, 25miles) is the closest airport to Encinitas.
