Gualala is located about 100 miles north of San Francisco along California’s scenic Highway 1. The town is built around the Gualala River, which meets with the Pacific Ocean right in front of the town. The sandy beaches pushed back and forth by the river and the ocean are beautiful and serene. Cottages and vacation homes here have spectacular views from along the coast and in the foothills that surround the town. The river makes for a perfect place to learn how to kayak and even venture out into the ocean from. Other activities in the area include horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba diving and hiking. The Sea Ranch Golf Links in town is a premier course that is challenging and enjoyable. The river and ocean have excellent year round fishing and at nearby Point Arena Pier you won’t even have to pick up a license. Point Arena also has one of the tallest light houses on the Pacific Coast. Coming back to Gualala at the end of the day and enjoying a nice dinner while watching the sun sink into the ocean will make this a memorable vacation. The Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS, 50miles) is the largest nearby airport. |
