Idyllwild is located in the San Bernardino National Forest on the other side of the Mount San Jacinto State Park from Palm Springs, California. This small peaceful community is a great place to just relax and enjoy the surroundings. Pine and cedar trees stretch upward to the sun and rock formations jut from the ground around Idyllwild. A good number of day hike trails start in Idyllwild and the nearby state park. The rock formations here make for challenging climbing routes that all levels of rock climbers will enjoy. Mountain biking is another popular activity in the area. Many cafes and restaurants in town will be happy to set you up with a picnic lunch for you to enjoy in the outdoors. Quaint souvenir and “mom and pop” stores make up most of the shopping in Idyllwild. However, there is also a large amount of local artists that have galleries here as well. If you are tired of hearing the noise of industry, come to Idyllwild and get back to nature. San Bernardino International Airport (SBD, 60miles) is the closest airport to Idyllwild. |
