Carnelian Bay is located on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe, which is about 30 miles away from Reno, Nevada. Lake Tahoe is split down the middle by the California and Nevada state lines and is known as one of the most pristine alpine lakes in the world. Every year tourists come to enjoy the crystal clear waters and the wide array of activities that the lake and surrounding mountains provide. Carnelian Bay is in a wonderful location on Lake Tahoe. Its close proximity to ski slopes, golf courses, shopping plazas and much more make it an ideal place to vacation. In the summer the lake is perfect for fishing. Common catches are kokanee salmon and various species of trout. The mountains are crisscrossed with hiking and mountain biking trails that vary in difficulty from beginner to advanced. If you really want to see the whole area, try a hot air balloon ride and float over 8,000 feet above Lake Tahoe. In the winter downhill ski slopes open up, ice skating rinks become busy and Nordic skiing is available. This is the perfect time of year to get on the slopes and retire at the end of the day in your own vacation cottage. Regardless of the time of year you come to visit Carnelian Bay, it will be a special trip. The Lake Tahoe Airport (TVL, 25miles) and Reno – Tahoe International Airport (RNO, 45miles) are the closest airports to Carnelian Bay. |
