Mill Valley is located on the peninsula just across from San Francisco, by way of the Golden Gate Bridge. As its name implies, the community is nicely tucked back into a valley. This is a wonderful vacation spot if you are looking to enjoy everything that San Francisco and the Bay area have to offer, but do not want to stay in the big city itself. All the entertainment of the big city is just across the San Francisco Bay. Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Ghirardelli Square and much more are just a short drive away from Mill Valley. If you are looking to enjoy a day out on the water, then check out the local marinas. They will be happy to set you up with everything you need to go sailing or boating in the bay waters. Mill Valley is also quite close to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This recreation site is perfect for biking, hiking and learning a bit about the area’s history at one of the museums in Fort Mason Center. Mill Valley has some excellent shopping facilities, but if you are looking to do some big time shopping, you might want to venture over to Union Square in the big city. The Mill Valley Golf Course is beautifully designed and poses a good challenge for any golfer. At the day’s end you will be happy to rest and relax in your own vacation cottage, where you can simply sit back and enjoy a good book. The San Francisco International Airport (SFO, 25miles) is the closest large airport to Mill Valley.
