Moss Landing is located on the eastern side of Monterey Bay, about 12 miles northwest of Salinas. This community has a large inlet that is well protected and perfect for harboring boats. Even though much of the town is in an industrial setting, the beaches along the Pacific Ocean are not crowded and are perfect for surf fishing or enjoying an afternoon stroll. The Salinas River and Moss Landing State Beaches are the closest beaches to town. However, water recreation is dangerous due to the rip currents in the area. Salinas is your closest town for shopping and golfing. A short drive down the coast puts you on the Monterey Peninsula. The peninsula is home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pebble Beach Golf Links, dozens of parks and beaches, and the beginnings of Carmel by the Sea. Moss Landing is also the starting point for many charter fishing trips and tours by boat. Be sure to check in with the local marinas for availability. Above all, enjoy your California vacation in Moss Landing. The closest airports to Moss Landing are the Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY, 17miles) and the San Jose International Airport (SJC, 54miles). |
