Santa Cruz is located on the northern end of the Monterey Bay and about 75 miles south of San Francisco. This small coastal city is well known for its Beach Boardwalk. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a large amusement park and one of the few old fashioned parks left in America. There is a wooden roller coaster and carousel, as well as arcades and restaurants. There is even a large recreation facility with a two-story miniature golf course. There are also a good number of shops that line the boardwalk and extend out on the Municipal Wharf. If you are looking to get into the surfing scene in Santa Cruz, then head to the beaches. There are many professional surfers and weekend warriors who come to Santa Cruz to enjoy the good waves. Those who want to be on the water but not on a board can check in with the local marinas. They will be happy to set you up with a boat rental, kayak rental, charter fishing trip, or even a whale watching excursion. Bicycles can also be rented at many stores in town. Cycling is a great way to get around town as it is relatively flat. Golfers will enjoy the challenging holes at the nearby Pasatiempo Golf Club, after which you can enjoy a wonderful dining experience at one of the seaside restaurants in town. At the end of the day you can rest and relax in your own vacation cottage in Santa Cruz. The closest airport to Santa Cruz is the San Jose International Airport (SJC, 30miles).
