Del Mar is located about 20 miles north of San Diego on California’s southwestern coast. This small coastal town of about 4,500 is along some of the most beautiful coastline south of Los Angeles. Public parks in downtown grant access to the beaches in the area and the waves that roll in from the Pacific Ocean are perfect for surfing and boogie boarding. The cool breeze from off the water also makes this an ideal spot to just sit and lounge while you enjoy that book you have been meaning to read. Around the town there are a good number of events and activities to enjoy. Golfers will enjoy the variety of courses in the area and the challenges that each one offers. Window shoppers will love the unique stores and galleries throughout the downtown area. Charter fishing trips may be purchased at marinas in the area and will ensure you have a good time while trying to land the big one. Powerboat and personal watercraft are also available in nearby towns and are a great way to explore the coastline. Of course you can also travel to San Diego and check out attractions there such as the San Diego Zoo. The largest benefit to staying in Del Mar is that the town is not going to be overcrowded with tourists and you can relax and enjoy your vacation without interruption. The San Diego International Airport (SAN, 20miles) is the nearest large airport to Del Mar. |
