Napa is located about 45 miles north of San Francisco at the beginnings of the Napa Valley. Napa serves as the commercial hub for California’s Wine Country. The downtown section is charming and has an old-fashioned feel. One of the attractions in town is Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts. This is a large facility dedicated to exploring how food and wine influence culture. Of course you don’t have to go to the biggest and newest facility to enjoy Napa. There are many wineries located throughout the Napa Valley and all of them are worth a visit. If you are looking for a bit of art with your wine, head to see the Hess Collection just outside of town. Whether you are a bargain, antique or window shopper Napa has a wide variety of shopping plazas and malls to discover. Just south of town is the Chardonnay Golf Club. This golf complex has 36 well maintained and challenging holes ready to test the game of any golfer. If you want to see the countryside consider renting a bicycle from one of the small towns further up in Napa Valley and riding along the country roads. At the end of the day you can relax in your own vacation home in Napa. The closest airports to Napa are the Sonoma County Airport (STS, 40miles) in Santa Rosa and the San Francisco International Airport (SFO, 55miles). |
